These terms cover your use of Jide Chinese at jidechinese.com. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
Your account
Give a real email address and keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Jide Chinese.
Using the app
Use Jide Chinese for your own learning. Please don’t misuse it: no attempts to break or overload the service, get around usage limits, access other people’s accounts or data, or use the AI features to create unlawful or harmful content.
Free beta and future plans
Jide Chinese is free while it is in beta. We may later offer paid plans. If we do, we’ll explain prices and what’s included before you pay, and you’ll never be charged without agreeing first. AI features have daily limits that may change.
AI-generated content
Readers, feedback, translations and example sentences may be created by AI. They are usually helpful but can contain mistakes, so treat them as learning aids, not authoritative references.
Your content
Words, decks and text you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the app for you, including sending them to our AI provider when you use AI features.
Our content
The app, its design and its original content belong to Jide Chinese. Dictionary data comes from CC-CEDICT (CC BY-SA 4.0), and character and stroke data from Make Me a Hanzi and Hanzi Writer, under their own licenses.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the app running well, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and features may change. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account.
No warranty
Jide Chinese is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We don’t guarantee any particular learning result or test score.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Jide Chinese is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or lost data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $0 while the app is free).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and for important changes we’ll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
